Spring 2023

Dear Parents/Guardians:

The NM Department of Health has updated immunization requirements for all students entering the 11th grade who are 16 years or older in the upcoming school year. All students entering the 11th grade who are 16 years or older will need a second dose of Meningococcal ACWY or MenACWY.

Parents, if your teen is not current with a 2nd dose of Meningococcal, you will need to make an appointment with their Health Care Provider to update immunizations. If your teen is not yet 16 but is entering 11th grade, wait until your teen turns 16 to get the booster and please let the school nurse know. Boosters given before age 16 do not count and would have to be repeated.

The Los Lunas Public Health Office is an additional resource if needed. LLPHO number is 505-222-0960, call to make an appointment. There will be “Got Shots” clinics in July and August around the state.

All students registering for 11th grade for next school year will need to bring a copy of their updated immunization record to registration at LLHS at the end of this summer.

If you want to print your child’s immunization record from the state website, it can be found online at vaxviewnm.org.

Feel free to call LLHS Nurse’s office at 505-865-4646 ext. 6005 for any questions or concerns.

Thank you for following up on this important health care issue.
